• I know the science. I have been trained as a neuropsychologist, I think as a neuropsychologist and I work as a neuropsychologist, albeit a writing one. I don’t research the structure of paper tissues or technical parameters of locomotives to write for paper mills or railway businesses. I simply talk about the science I know.
  • I know the patients. I know they differ – but also that they tend to share some features. There are tons of research studies pointing to a simple fact: stress makes us silly. No matter whether you derive this conclusion from neurobiology, behavioural economy or evolutionary theories, stressed people don’t seem to be into science – they need clear, structures advice and reassurance. But let’s not forget about you – are you stressed? If so, just (1) find my number below, (2) take your phone from your pocket right now and (3) call me. I will be kind to you!
  • I know the treatments – and I want to do my part as well. A recent insomnia study has shown that people who received a detailed book on sleep hygiene were helped more than those who only got a leaflet. Better understanding comes with better compliance, improved lifestyle choices – and this all adds up to the treatment effect. In the same way, perceived support from the clinician or simply attention paid to the client works as a placebo. Whether you offer clinical consultations or technologies, I will make sure the effect will start taking place even before the client opts for your offer.
